Government announcement re expansion of booster vaccine programme

As you know the NHS in Oxfordshire and across the country is working fast to roll out the expanded COVID-19 booster vaccination programme and increase vaccine appointments for patients.
From today, Wednesday 15 December, all adults aged 18+ can book their booster appointment. We will contact you as quickly as we can to book your vaccine at our local GP-led site, or you can go via the NHS National Booking System.
The need to make boosters available at speed will require a lot of our staff time and resources, so we need to clinically prioritise our ‘business as usual’ GP services to support the vaccination programme. This could lead to some routine appointments and services being postponed. We will update you if this is the case, or you could help us help you by postponing routine appointments yourself – but please let us know if you are not coming.
Please be assured that clinically urgent services are open and urgent appointments will go ahead as planned.
The aim of the NHS is to offer every adult the chance to book their booster jab by the end of the year to help protect against the Omicron variant. Vaccines continue to remain the best line of defence against the virus.
